The Denby Dale Passive House in 3D!

As part of our REVIT Passive House Summer Competition, Gerard Nicholson used the details from the Denby Dale passive house in the UK to produce some excellent 3D images and movies of the details outlined in their super technical videos and briefing document.

Foundation/Ground Floor Detail

External Wall/Floor Detail

Passive Window Detail

Roof Detail

Well done to Gerard as these are an excellent resource for anybody interested in passive house design and it sets a high standard for the competition!

All of the above videos were developed from details provided by the Green Building Store in the UK in the development of the Denby Dale House.

Passive House Architectural REVIT Competition Summer 2011

Third-year and second-year architectural technology students in the Department of Building and Civil Engineering at the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology are currently taking part in a competition over the summer months to design a passive house using the Building Information Modelling (BIM) software package REVIT. Each student has to produce a BIM REVIT model including: ground and first floor plans; elevations; sections; three perspective or isometric exterior rendered views; four isometric detail sections of foundations/rising wall detail, window/external wall detail, floor/wall connection detail and roof eaves detail. In addition, each student has to produce a 60-second fly-through animation and a 3D schematic of either a mechanical heat recovery ventilation system or a solar-assisted hot water system. I will be posting updates on different aspects of the passive house concept over the coming months to act as a learning resource for the participating students.
